EXHIBITION
Tell Me About Your Home
In November 2023, I had the privilege of curating "Tell me about your home," a children's art exhibition at Ludwigstrasse 60 Gallery. This exhibition was the culmination of the year-long "Art in Safety" mentoring program, designed for Ukrainian teens who had found refuge in Saarland, Germany, in which I took part as a mentor.
For over six months, my collegue Iryna Tykha and I had the joy of working with these young artists, creating a safe space for them to connect, reflect, and express their feelings about 'home' through art.
The exhibition showcased their powerful creations, including 14 paintings, an installation, a video projection, and a catalogue.

To truly understand the artists' perspectives, we included a video projection where they shared the stories behind their paintings in their own words. Interwoven with their narratives were the sounds of 'home'—the comforting, everyday noises that resonated with their memories.
It was a joy and honor to let the artists' voices be heard in this video.

To truly explore the multifaceted concept of 'home,' I invited the teens to create and paint paper houses, giving them complete artistic freedom. The results were deeply moving. Some houses echoed the charm of traditional village homes, others reflected the harsh realities of war, appearing burned or resembling stark Soviet apartment blocks.
Most importantly, the teens were empowered to translate their unique visions onto paper, without any imposed guidelines or expectations.
